Meeting 7th May 2009 Members present - 13 no. Apologies : Pam Lloyd, Paul Faulkner Matters Arising from Minutes of the last Meeting : * Guidelines for future hunts still outstanding - Philip. * Folk night - Notices for alternative entrance to the Tafarn have not been trialled yet and will be deferred until winter. We will ask for instrument cases to be stored upstairs. * Cribbage evening still to be arranged. * Rhian will continue to serve in the bar. * Wine tasting was cancelled due to lack of support. * Thanks to Judy and Janet for catering for 18 Ramblers. * Boat Race - Raised £250 for Garnant Family Centre. Next year results will be posted in the Shop and Tafarn . Janet has offered to do tea and coffee next year. * Dawn Chorus Walk - Excellent turnout of 10 people this year. Thanks to Karen for providing outstanding breakfast. Business report: Finance: Accounts to end of April. Increasing turnover in the bar and shop with preliminary profit and loss accounts indicating we are in profit. A bonus to reflect the hard work by staff was suggested. A proposal that we have wooden picnic tables made for the beer garden will be looked into re. costs. Nigel will be reimbursed for gas used for BBQ on Boat Race day Kitchen: A suggestion that comment cards be available for diners in the restaurant was felt to be the best way of getting feedback on meals to our new cooks. Pat Bazzard has offered to cook in the evening on Fete day to follow on from teas in the afternoon. Shop: Kathy would like to have a questionnaire in the shop to monitor the popularity of present stock and to gauge demand for other lines. Forthcoming events Celia Parsons would like to use a room at the Tafarn for the Talley History Society to meet. Boule - Postponed until possibly August Bank Holiday. Will try out on Fete day to judge popularity and interest in a day’s event. June 27th - Cwmdu Fete. Discussion on all aspects of fete - booking participants, stalls, displays, transport, competitions, judges, food, entertainment, publicity, displays, evening activities. Refer to Philip’s planner. List of help needed on various activities to go up in the shop and on the website. A.O.B. * Electricity check to be arranged * Ask Paul Faulkner if the upstairs room could be repaired and decorated in the near future. * Back door outside light still needed. * This year is the 10th anniversary of the formation of Cymdeithas Cwmdu also the 100th anniversary of the School.
