* Successful evening for the Film in the Field. Thank you to all who organised it and for the BBQ.

* Thank you to Jonny for an enjoyable Greek evening.

* Cwmdu Reunited - Thank you to all who helped to make the day so memorable. Special thanks go

to Jim and June for opening the Old School House, to Edith for sourcing items and organising

schoolyard games, to Hywel for obtaining a metal hoop from the museum at Carmarthen, to Bella

for making the cake and to the Chapel for opening and welcoming visitors. A donation has been

received from D T Davies for Cymdeithas. Some commemorative mugs are available for sale in

the shop. Talley History Society will collate all sound recordings and photos for their archives and

displays.

* Apple Day - a very enjoyable day although the feeling was that it was quieter than in previous

years. Discussions will take place before next yearʼs event to consider its continuance or its future

format.

* Talley Woodland not closed to the public during Army manoeuvres on 16th October.

* Shop has been nominated for the Rural Business Award category in the Countryside Alliance

Awards.

Tafarn Cwmdu Ltd Business Report.

Given dwindling reserves, discussions have focused on ways to boost income, with a preference on

increasing trading activity rather than voluntary fundraising. Cymdeithas supported this approach. In

the short term, the meeting agreed to reserve £2000 of Cymdeithas funds if needed - to be

reviewed every 3 months or so. The main opportunity to increase trading is to get the kitchen going

again. This has been the focus of discussions with the Wales Cooperative Centre. Options include;

Firstly, advertising for a self employed cook to operate the kitchen/dining room most evenings and

Sunday lunchtimes, inc. teas and lunches in the summer - indicative financial forecasts show that

this may be feasible given the right person and if funds can be found to support the venture whilst it

is building up.

Secondly, both Rhian and David have indicated that they would be prepared to serve hot butchers

pies in the evenings, if it can be easily arranged.

Thirdly, carrying on as we are in the hope that bar business picks up and shop business continues

to grow.

Cymdeithas supported the proposal to further investigate options 1 and 2 in parallel. The next

Tafarn Cwmdu Ltd meeting when this will be discussed is next Tuesday evening at 7.00pm - all

welcome.
